Iloilo’s world-famous dish is probably Batchoy, a concoction of pork meat, noodles, secret spices, ginamos (shrimp paste) submerged in a bowl of boiling hot delicious soup that started in the wet market of La Paz District during World War II. Deco’s was the first eatery that invented Batchoy in La Paz Market. Later Batchoy was further improved by the fast-food approach of Ted’s. Today, Batchoy is well-known with bigger restaurants in the city while Deco’s, Netong’s and Ted’s expanded with many branches as far as Metro Manila.

Biscocho Haus started in Jaro District in 1975 by creating a yummy bread product made of leftover breads, baked and topped with creamy milk.
